We are delighted to share that the Derbyshire Jewish Community has made its debut media appearance in the Jewish Telegraph!
The article highlights how our community was founded, the incredible journey of bringing together Jewish people across Derbyshire, and the importance of Jewish connection—especially in times like these.
Our co-founders, Harry Sassoon (based in Chesterfield) and Eve Sacker (based in Derby), spoke about their personal experiences that led them to establish this initiative. With Derbyshire’s Jewish population previously feeling isolated, the DJC has become a vital network for local Jews to connect, socialise, and support one another.
The piece also mentions some of the challenges Jewish people in our area have faced, the growing need for community solidarity, and our upcoming events designed to strengthen our bonds.
We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come in such a short time and grateful to the Jewish Telegraph for featuring our story. If you’d like to read the full article, check out the PDF linked below.
📅 Upcoming Events:🗓️ March 8 – Community gatherings in Belper & Chesterfield (3 PM)🗓️ March 23 – ‘Nosh & Natter’ in Derby (4 PM)
If you’re Jewish and living in Derbyshire, we’d love to hear from you! While our WhatsApp group is private, you’re welcome to contact us for more information about the community and our events.
