The Derbyshire Jewish Community (DJC) is a grassroots initiative bringing together Jewish individuals and families from across the county who had long felt isolated or unaware of one another. Originally two separate groups based in Derby and Chesterfield, DJC was formed in late 2024 when the groups merged to create a single, county-wide community. Founded by Harry and Eve, the group has grown from a simple WhatsApp chat into a warm and inclusive network that organises informal meetups, social events and opportunities for support, conversation and connection. DJC is open to Jews of all backgrounds and levels of observance, aiming to foster a sense of belonging, visibility and togetherness throughout Derbyshire.
