Holocaust Memorial Day 2026 saw the Derbyshire Jewish Community deliver three meaningful events across the county, bringing remembrance into civic, cultural, and multi-faith spaces. Mitzvah Day 2025 was marked by a month-long programme of volunteering by members of the Derbyshire Jewish Community in support of Joybank Sheffield. Volunteers gave their time to help a community food bank supporting individuals and families facing food insecurity. A truly special event in Derby: the DJC was honoured to participate in a memorial for American Civil War veteran Henry McGuinness. We brought our cultural traditions to the fore, offering prayers and placing stones of remembrance on the memorial. We were valued and appreciated, honouring a Jewish veteran in the city where he spent his final years.
